Stevie Wonder-3-819x1024Stevie Wonder quit MoTown in 1970, and put out two albums all by himself. Berry Gordy was shocked to discover this. Stevie Wonder and Berry Gord was able to agree with Stevie Wonder's demands for more autonomy and complete creative control and the rights to all his music. Stevie Wonder signed a 13 million dollar MoTown Records contract in 1972. Stevie Wonder received a higher royalty and full creative control. Additionally, he was granted the right to write his own music, something that very few artists could obtain at the time. The songs of Stevie Wonder could now address controversial topics such as war, poverty, and drugs. The first album he released under his new contract with MoTown was Music Of My Mind in 1972. Talking Book was Stevie Wonder's album in late 1972. It's still a major piece of music. This album featured Superstition the most popular hit song.
